Briefly explain your role

I work as both a security officer and an on-site receptionist, covering multiple tasks and responsibilities.

What do you love about your job?

It is a challenging role to look after client demands plus meet and greet staff, management and contractors but I am always up for the challenge!

What made you decide to start a career in the security sector?

I believed I would enjoy dealing with the day-to-day challenges associated with the role.

How does KST support you in your role?

Kings management is very supportive and accommodating in solving the needs of their employees.

Has there been any significant barriers to progression in your career within the security profession?

Not at all.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role in security?

I used to work as a Quality Auditor in the food industry where my role was to check quality of food, searches and investigations etc.
This experience allowed me to learn to deal with situations where focus, a keen eye and a thorough process needs to be in place.

What’s your most memorable moment in your career so far?

Whilst working on a construction site, I found seven intruders during a patrol. At that moment I was able to keep calm, secure myself first before contacting both control and the police who promptly arrived to arrest the intruders.

What opportunities do you feel the security profession offers?

A strong and clear career progression.

What do you do at work on a daily basis?

Sign in & out of all staff. Receiving contractors, giving them their induction and issuing work permits. Staff searches when leaving the warehouse, patrolling the site and CCTV monitoring.

What advice would you give for someone new starting in the industry?

Be vigilant and carry out the tasks assigned to you with full diligence.
