Kings Guarding Solutions Support National Safe Spaces Scheme

Kings Guarding Solutions is proud to announce it has pledged its support for the NBCC Safe Spaces Scheme otherwise known as Operation Portum.
Businesses can sign up for and support the Safe Spaces program, which aims to create safer areas for workers, customers and community members who feel vulnerable in cities, town centres and retail parks.
As a result of our participation in the program, we have committed to educating security officers about Operation Portum and its guiding principles and provide advice on how private security officers might apply these values to protect and assist those who feel vulnerable.
NBCC lead Supt Patrick Holdaway said: “The response we have had from the private security industry to the scheme has been tremendous. With so many of the large security companies joining the scheme, there will be thousands of security staff up and down the country given training on the scheme and know what to do if someone is feeling unsafe and asks for their help. By working together we can help people feel safer in their communities.”
The Security Industry Authority (SIA), which oversees the regulation of the private security sector, has endorsed the Safe Spaces initiative. SIA Director of Inspections and Enforcement Paul Fullwood has stated “The NBCC Safe Spaces scheme provides the security industry the opportunity to further contribute to public protection and community safety. Security companies provide services to the business sector across the UK’s towns, cities and local communities and are a reassuring presence to staff and members of the public as well as those who may be vulnerable or need assistance. It is great to see the support from the security industry for the NBCC Safe Spaces Scheme. I encourage them explore with their clients how they can implement the Safe Spaces scheme to increase the network of support across the UK.”

About the NBCC
With the goal to combat crimes against businesses, the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) represents UK police agencies and collaborates with the business community. Their main goals are to stop violence and combat organised crime while creating and exchanging best practices between law enforcement and the commercial sector.
With assistance from the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) hosted the NBCC when it first debuted in October 2017. To support Assistant Commissioner Paul Betts, the National Police Chiefs Council’s (NPCC) corporate crime head, the NBCC was transferred to the City of London Police in 2021.
